Remember Umira, one of our MOW Happy Child candidate? Umira was first diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when she was 1 yr old. After undergoing chemo in UMMC, the cancer went into remission for 2 yrs. In Oct last year, she had a relapsed and was admitted to UMMC again for treatment. After slightly more than 6 months in the hospital, she succumbed to her illness and passed away on Tues, 10th June 2014.
Our sincere condolences to her family, especially her "Atuk" (her grandma) who cared for her throughout her stay in the hospital.
She is now free from sufferings and may she rest in peace.
We would like to thank our donors who supported our cause in helping Umira and her Atuk.

In the 6 months since the relapsed, she was either in the hospital ward and sometimes wheeled to the hospital lobby when her Atuk receives groceries from MOW
We never missed any of our FOOD BANK delivery despite not posting our FOOD BANK delivery due to short of volunteers in helping us with the social media. Do you remember the joy derived from your first pair of jeans? Thrill! Joy! Delight, happy and feeling cool, of course! This is what LEVI'S did with their CSR Program bringing such joy with their 500 pair of jeans to Meals on Wheels, Ti-Ratana (MOW) for distribution. MOW headed by Kim portion it out to: 1) Little NGO, Kapar rural poor -200 pieces 2) Ti-Ratana Welfare Society- 120 pieces 3) For our next Hari Raya, Deepavali & Christmas 2014, MOW CELEBRATE distribution. Tommy Teh and Kim collected the Jeans from Levi's. Alex Liew and another Rpresentaive from Levi's jeans joined Tommy & Kim to meet and delight the kids of Ti-Ratana Welfare Society. Our big thank you to Levi's for their jeans!

Doing things for others - whether small, unplanned acts or
regular volunteering - is a powerful way to boost our own happiness as well of
those around us. The people we help may be strangers, family, friends,
colleagues or neighbors. They can be old or young, nearby or far away.
Giving isn't just about money, so you don't need to be rich.
Giving to others can be as simple as a single kind word, a smile or a thoughtful
gesture. It can include giving time, care, skills, thought or attention.
Sometimes these mean as much, if not more, than financial gifts.
Scientific studies show that helping others boosts
happiness. It increases life satisfaction, provides a sense of meaning,
increases feelings of competence, and improves our mood and reduced stress. It
can help to take our minds off our own troubles too.
Kindness towards others is being the glue, which connects
individual happiness, with a wider community and societal well being. Giving to
others helps us connect with people and meets one of our basic human needs -
relatedness.
Kindness and caring also seem to be contagious. When we see
someone do something kind or thoughtful, or we are on the receiving end of
kindness, it inspires us to be kinder to ourselves. In this way, kindness
spreads from one person to the next, influencing the behavior of people who
never saw the original act. Kindness really is the key to creating a happier,
more trusting local community.
This video touched our heart for we can relate to the emotion, love and happiness experience during our unconditional giving.
To our donors, benefactors, supporters, well wishers and volunteers this video is for you.
For all your kind, giving you too get to experience emotion, love and happiness.
