Let's spare some time for charity as Meals On Wheels makes its next stop at LIFE SHELTER (HIV HOPE) at Bukit Beruntung, Rawang on Saturday, 25 February 2012. Whether a contribution in the form of presence or donations, all are welcome to participate in this initiative.
ABOUT LIFE SHELTER (HIV HOPE)
Life Shelter (HIV Hope) is a Christian organisation committed to providing a quality of life and dignity to women and children infected/affected by HIV AIDS, regardless of race, religion, or creed. The Home caters to mothers, single women, and children living with HIV, enabling a support system to motivate and foster a spirit of hope in a caring environment.
With the help of volunteers, the children at the Home are educated and prepared to enter the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) program schools for resettlement in third countries. So far, six children from Life Shelter have been resettled in the United States under UNHCR.
For the women residents, they are equipped with living skills both as a form therapy and to ease their transition back into society. One ex-resident is now serving as a Counselor with an NGO and stationed in Sg. Buloh Hospital to help people who are newly diagnosed with HIV positive. Another resident started her own business to support her three children while a Myanmar woman has gone back to her previous employer.
The Home currently houses five women and seven children from various countries such as India, China, Myanmar and Liberia as well as two Myanmarese nurses (Lily and Awi) as caregivers.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR VOLUNTEERS
For logistic and security reasons, all volunteers who wish to participate are requested to pre-register your name and contact number with us by email trrcpenchala@gmail.com
Please arrive at the Ti-Ratana Penchala Centre by 10.00am for a briefing and sharing of merits. We shall convoy together to the Life Shelter thereafter. No transportation will be provided but if you wish to carpool with other volunteers, kindly ensure arrangements are made to send you back to the Centre after that.
