Moving forward, Meals on Wheels
(MOW) will also be serving as a food bank that delivers donated perishable and
non-perishable items to charity homes and associations. We will be organising
visits to underprivileged homes during festive season and special events from
time to time too.
On next Wednesday, 25 July 2012,
MOW’s Food Bank will be delivering dry food items and necessities to Coalition
of Burma Ethnics Malaysia (COBEM) and Mon Refugee Boarding School.
About COBEM
Over the past five to 10 years, community-based organisations representing the different ethnic nationalities from Myanmar have been formed to organise, assist, empower and protect their respective communities.

In
recognition of the benefits for community-based operations in Malaysia through resource
sharing and cooperation, the Coalition of Burma Ethnics Malaysia (COBEM) was
formed in 2007 to respond to the needs of the ethnic refugees and migrant
communities from Myanmar living in Malaysia. COBEM represents the Kachin,
Karenni, Karen, Chin, Mon, Arakan and Shan ethnic communities who work closely
together for the benefit of all their respective refugee communities.
